Cool: RT @Viper007Bond: Incase you haven’t seen it: go to Google and press "I’m Feeling Lucky" without putting anything in the search box. [stephencronin]
twitter (feed #2)
Umm yes, I better do that myself! RT @justcreative: Reminder: Update your website footer copyright details from 2009 to 2010. [stephencronin]

More old school friends adding me as friends on Facebook – but I hardly ever log on. [stephencronin]

One reason Google Adsense is better than Amazon affiliates sales: There are no returns on Adsense clicks. Still Amazon can work pretty well. [stephencronin]

Anyone who leaves a comment that just says: "I like Microsoft" should be aware it’s going to marked as spam! [stephencronin]

Website owners: Please don’t block all visitors from certain countries! I used to live in China and it’s very frustrating when this happens. [stephencronin]

Back at work! [stephencronin]
twitter (feed #2)
So we’re debating whether website copyright date should be a range (2007-2010) or a single year (2010). I use range, but many sites don’t. [stephencronin]
twitter (feed #2)
@DanielleCu The 2007-2010 eg was from my personal site, which was only created in 2007. QPIF uses 1995-2010, but the Gateway only uses 2009. [stephencronin]
twitter (feed #2)
@DanielleCu Yep. Google, Yahoo, ABC, CNN, News.com.au all have single years, although only Google has updated to 2010. The rest are 2009. [stephencronin]
twitter (feed #2)
@DanielleCu According to the QLD govt copyright guidelines, the statement isn’t necessary. You’re covered even if it’s not there. [stephencronin]
twitter (feed #2)
@jeresig I just tried /%postname%.bar/ on my test site http://sjcpg2.scratch99.com/ – seems to work. You need something dynamic in the URL. [stephencronin]

I’ll agree with that! RT: @iandstewart: My FAVORITE WordPress news site http://wptavern.com/ (RT if you’re with me!) [stephencronin]

When scanning lists of articles, I tune out the ones which start with numbers (eg: 30+ Useful.., 11 Most Popular.., 90 Best..) [stephencronin]
twitter (feed #2)
@perishable I think there’s an incorrect function name in your post. See my comment: http://bit.ly/5b8NXL Fantastic post by the way! [stephencronin]
twitter (feed #2)
@perishable excellent, now I can copy and paste the code into my functions.php – so the thanks goes to you. :) [stephencronin]

@donncha when I lived in UK years ago, I hit a patch of black ice – my Colin McRae Rally skills (Playstation 1 I guess) kicked in. Great fun [stephencronin]

Investigating a bug in my Eclipse Crossword Integration plugin. The strpos offset is greater than the length of the string. Can’t replicate. [stephencronin]
twitter (feed #2)
Can’t see why the offset would be longer than the string. It’s not a problem with the file, as it works here. Must be a server issue. [stephencronin]

Bad bad bad RT: @seosmarty: Pls help spread the word: Gavatar hijacking (making me look as a comment spammer) http://bit.ly/7xGBsy [stephencronin]
twitter (feed #2)
cringe when I see people writing about PageRank when they clearly have no idea about how it works… [stephencronin]
twitter (feed #2)
Just had a conversation about whether links should be in the body of the article or listed below it (to avoid distracting user). BODY!! [stephencronin]
twitter (feed #2)
@DanielleCu: @leesargent Agree it’s not done well often enough but a link has greater context in the body than tacked on at the end. [stephencronin]
twitter (feed #2)
@DanielleCu: @leesargent And a link in the body has slightly more SEO power than one separated out into a list of links at the end. [stephencronin]
twitter (feed #2)
Got an email. The problem with my WordPress plugin that I was investigating last night was just a permissions problem – not the plugin [stephencronin]
twitter (feed #2)
@leesargent Noone knows for sure, but most SEOs believe inbody links beat links anywhere else – for external but should apply internally too [stephencronin]
twitter (feed #2)
@leesargent Most believe that Google can now recognise the different parts of the page as well. It knows the sidebar is the sidebar. [stephencronin]
twitter (feed #2)
Shouldn’t RT as I’ll have less chance of winning RT @perishable Book Giveaway: Print Version of Digging into WordPress: http://bit.ly/86aLPr [stephencronin]
twitter (feed #2)
@leesargent Agreed – That’s why I said slightly. [stephencronin]
twitter (feed #2)
@leesargent I’d go with inbody anyway, because of greater context. I don’t want to wait until the end until I see the links. I want them NOW [stephencronin]
twitter (feed #2)
@leesargent That’s what right-click Open in new tab is for. But then maybe I’m a power user. [stephencronin]
twitter (feed #2)
@leesargent great eg where inbody links wouldn’t work if they were below body – http://bit.ly/7eVxaj – too much distance from related text [stephencronin]
twitter (feed #2)
@DanielleCu See the eg I gave Lee – http://bit.ly/7eVxaj – if the links are too far from the text they are related to, they lose context. [stephencronin]
twitter (feed #2)
@leesargent no one will click on Dan’s link if it’s after the rest of the post – it has more context being attached to his name. [stephencronin]
twitter (feed #2)
@leesargent then people have the CHOICE to find out more about it before continuing – rather than after when it may be too late. [stephencronin]

Shopping for new computer. Looking for discount codes for Dell Australia. At the moment, tossing up between a Studio and a Vostro (desktop) [stephencronin]

@scottyang Aust these days, Brisbane to be exact. Found a Dell code – save me $100 – thanks! Will have to use your site more often. [stephencronin]
twitter (feed #2)
@MartyAtDell Do the Studio Slim Desktop’s come with Firewire and SD card slot built in? Can’t add them, so I guess they’re already built in? [stephencronin]
twitter (feed #2)
@MartyAtDell Excellent – thanks – I’m placing my order. [stephencronin]

I’ve now purchased PCs from Dell on three continents. Does that make me a loyal customer? [stephencronin]
twitter (feed #2)
For the record, I’ve bought Dells in the UK, China and now in Australia, over the last 5 years. [stephencronin]

Just left a comment about creating fake pages in WordPress using a plugin – http://bit.ly/6zWDVc – I have a plan. We’ll see if it works. [stephencronin]
twitter (feed #2)
Think I have solved my problem: will hijack the_posts, create a fake page and parse URLs in that function, rather than use wp_rewrite [stephencronin]
twitter (feed #2)
Just used start="2" in an ordered list even though it’s deprecated. There’s no CSS alternative yet. Hoping someone will correct me! [stephencronin]

Can you just submit a patch to the core for a minor improvement to WordPress? Or do you have to get the feature approved first? [stephencronin]
twitter (feed #2)
@donncha Thanks for the direction – I’ll give it a try sometime in the next week. [stephencronin]
twitter (feed #2)
@szhang1130 How are you Stephen? [stephencronin]
twitter (feed #2)
my simple change looks more complicated – wp_dropdown_categories (which creates the category select) doesn’t deal with multiple="multiple" [stephencronin]
