WordPress 2.3.1 Upgrade Completed
November 19th, 2007 by Stephen Cronin (794 views)I’ve been upgrading the site to WordPress 2.3.1 over the last 24 hours, so you may have noticed some strange things - beyond the normal content.
The actual upgrade took 45 minutes and was completed about 4 hours ago. The site would definitely have been misbehaving during this period, with files missing and plugins deactivated.
Prior to this, you may have noticed some SQL errors when leaving comments. This was the result of upgrading the Google Sitemaps plugin. I had to change a parameter to tell it to use MySQL in standard mode to fix it.
I think everything is behaving now. If you notice anything strange, please let me know!
What’s Next?
Now that the upgrade’s done, I’ll be able to look at some changes that I was putting off until after the upgrade. These include:
- Tightening security
- Adding a top commentators plugin
- Improving comments (adding numbering, separating trackbacks, etc)
- Adopting the use of tags
- Trying out the Shylock Adsense plugin
These won’t all happen at once and there are probably some other things I’ll do too, but these are the things that are at the top of the list.
The Final Word
As I said above, it should all be smooth sailing now… However, if you notice anything strange, please let me know!

This is one of the things I like about Blogger - I don’ have to worry about upgrades! Good luck!
