UnMeme - Media Snackers
November 6th, 2007 by Stephen Cronin (3,059 views)Meg from Dipping Into The Blogpond recently tagged me with a meme, in her Media Snackers - What you talkin’ ’bout? post. I’m very grateful to Meg for thinking of me, but I’m going to be a little antisocial - instead of participating, I’m writing this UnMeme.
What’s an UnMeme? I won’t participate in the meme directly or pass it on to others, but I will acknowledge the links. It’s a little antisocial as I said, but I figure it’s better than just ignoring someone who took the time to tag me.
Why aren’t I participating? Well I’m just not really into Meme’s… I have been tempted once, by a memo that was on a topic I’d normally write about (how to improve my blog). This meme isn’t far off what I’d write about, but I just don’t have time to do it justice right now. So I’ll pass on it.
If you’re interested in Media Snackers, or are just curious as to what on earth they are, get on over to Meg’s site and check her post out.
Other information: As far as I’m aware, the term UnMeme was first coined by RT from Untwisted Vortex on his My First UnMeme post. The original source of this meme is Jeremiah Owyang’s Do you Respect Media Snackers post.

Hi Stephen
I fully respect that - I opted out of memes myself, but broke my rule because I liked the topic of this one!
Thanks for the UnMeme - I like the concept and I think it is certainly a lot more “social” than ignoring altogether.
Hi Meg,
Yes, I really like the UnMeme concept. I’d feel a little guilty if I did nothing, so this let me sleep better at night
I think that’s a very respectful option to taking part in a meme you were tagged for. I took part in the “how to improve my blog” meme. I believe I even tagged you for it. It was my first meme and my feelings have since changed on the whole concept of membes. But like Meg, if a meme is relevant and one I like, I may think differently in the future.
Josh, yep, you (and Maurice) tagged me with it. It’s the only one I’ve done so far. I’m not likely to do any more, but like you say, if a meme is relevant and I like it, then I may take part. If I don’t, I’ll take the UnMeme approach.

Huh… I have not response to some of the memes.
Well. I like the way you handle the meme.
Hi Terence, Thanks, although I have to point out it was RT’s idea.
