Feed Reading Models

Over the past six months, my feed reading habits have evolved. I used to read summary feeds in a desktop reader, but I’ve moved towards the more common model of reading full post feeds in a web based reader.

I wasn’t really conscious of this change, until I read Meg’s Hey You! Yes you, with the Partial Feed. I started off by defending summary feeds, but ended up realising that I’d come to value full post feeds as much as most bloggers. (more…)

WordPress Plugin – Simple Spam Filter Hack Available

Recently RT from Untwisted Vortex threw down a WordPress Plugin Rewrite Challenge, asking whether I’d rewrite the Simple Spam Filter plugin from Joe Tan. RT is a fan of Simple Spam Filter but felt that some additional checks would result in more spam being caught. (more…)

WordPress 2.3 Breaks Articles Plugin – Solution

Feed Autodiscovery Guide

Most modern browsers can automatically detect feeds offered by websites with feed autodiscovery enabled. This makes it easier to subscribe to these sites. If your blog doesn’t have feed autodiscovery enabled already, you need to set it up. Why make it harder for people to subscribe to your site? (more…)
